THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE [PG] B+

Gothamites worldwide, have no fear! Just when it seemed that we were living in the darkest of times for the Dark Knight and the entire DC Comics cinematic universe, along comes director Chris McKay (of “Robot Chicken” fame) with his LEGO-centric take on the Caped Crusader. Batman (voiced by Will Arnett) happily fights crime, all alone, to his own rock ‘em, sock ‘em score, and then heads home for microwave lobster. But when the Joker (Zach Galifianakis) hatches a scheme to solidify his status Batman’s arch-rival, the hero realizes that he must open himself up to working with others, including his new ward Robin (Michael Cera), a costumed Alfred (Ralph Fiennes), and Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl (Rosario Dawson). Physically and psychologically more expressive than anyone could have imagined, this Batman LEGO-verse unifies every iteration of the dark hero with delirious aplomb.
