ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY [PG-13] B+
The live-action “Star Wars” universe officially spins off with the arrival of “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” and I will start off with a hearty show of support. It’s about time for the new brain trust (Disney) behind this franchise to embrace the notion that there might be worthy stories in the galaxy beyond the Skywalker clan and different genres in which to operate. “Rogue One” feels like a forgotten piece of history – the untold ragtag mission to steal the Death Star plans – in the midst of a real war. Director Gareth Edwards (“Godzilla”) shoots this gritty galactic skirmish like a World War II battle with a real suicide squad leading the way. My suggestion – go see “Rogue One” and then head home for an intimate home screening of “Star Wars: A New Hope” to satisfy your cravings for the Force.
