Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr. have established an easy and engaging enough rapport on the hit television series New Girl, so it’s not surprising to see them test the big screen market, and what better way than the buddy-cop genre? Except Let’s Be Cops from Luke Greenfield, the thoroughly unpredictable director behind The AnimalThe Girl Next Door (an intriguing guilty pleasure) and Something Borrowed, flips the script by having its dynamic duo pose as cops and implausibly end up well over their heads.

While as infuriatingly ludicrous as Kevin Hart’s Ride AlongLet’s Be Cops has a semi-stoned vibe that is far more intoxicating. (R) Grade: C+
